Design for users with physical disabilities

By Petja Zorec

On Wednesday, December 16,  a lecture Design for users with physical disabilities will take place in the Museum of Architecure and Design In Ljubljana at 4.30PM. Most people today have access to carefully thought-out and aesthetically designed products. Attractive form follows function; this is a concept that most beneficiaries of Western culture take for granted. In design for the physically disabled on the other hand, the form or aesthetics of a product is, more often than not, subordinated to its functionality. Can the new line of thought in design, which is by nature grounded in limitations, have an impact on the wider design culture?
