Folding the House in Maribor

Presentation of architectural puzzles and lecture about Modern architecture

On Wednesday, November 19, at 6 pm, you are cordially invited to Vetrinjski dvor in Maribor for the public presentation of architectural puzzles Folding the House. The models of five buildings built between 1945 and 1975 are a result of an intense research study project by Trajekt, Institute for Spatial Culture. Presentation will be supplemented with the lecture about modern architecture led by art historian Martina Malešič and architect Anja Planišček, menthors of project Folding the House.

Presentation of project will focus on two topics, searching of forms and methods in spreading of knowledge about architecture and Slovenian architecture between 1945 and 1975. In project five prototipes of buildings from this period were made in techniques of 3D print and laser cutting. Conceived as accessories for learning about the architectural design of buildings, the models provide us with the possibility of recognising the quality of the originals. While folding these fold-ups into shape, we get to know the spatial structure and construction of the buildings. At the presentation entire process from idea to prototipe will be explained.

Presentation is part of the hosting exhibition RogLab – The Factory That Is Making Itself that is held between November 6 and November 30 at Vetrinjski dvor in Maribor.
