SATURDAY WORKSHOP: MAGIC WANDS

ORGANISED BY ROGLAB IN COLLABORATION WITH BOBRI FESTIVAL

19.01.2019

Unfortunately, all spaces at the workshop are taken.

Have you ever dreamt of fashioning your very own magic wand? One that would change its colours with a flick and swish of your wrist? Join us for a electronic wand-making workshop and a fun game for witches and wizards, where the steadiest hand wins!

Our mentors will help you make your magic wands, which will initially emit a green light. You’ll build in a circuit that will control the wand’s movement and will switch the light to red when it senses a jolt. Witches and wizards will then face off in a game of steady hands and careful steps, with the goal of keeping your wand glowing green for as long as you can! The rules of the game are as follows: each witch or wizard will hold their green-lit wand in hand while trying to trip up their competitors, making them lose their balance and switching their wands to red. The owner of the last remaining green wand is the winner.

In the process of making the wands participants will learn about accelerometers and simple circuits. Laser cutters and soldering irons will be used to create the wands.
